Cervinia Ski Resort
Italy’s most snow-sure resort, Cervinia, is in northwestern Italy, at the Alpine resort of Valle d’Aosta. Cervinia is one of Italy’s more lively après-ski resorts, especially during weekends. When Italian day-trippers come to visit, the atmosphere is particularly vibrant. There is a natural ice-skating rink right in the heart of Cervinia. During the summer, walking tours are very popular, and you will have breathtaking views of the Matterhorn. Cervinia has many other activities, including a local sports centre, cinema, bowling and an amusement arcade.
A Cervinia ski pass also covers the Valtournenche and Zermatt slopes. You can climb the lift system and travel to the nearby village of Valtournenche (5 kilometres down the valley) or cross the frontier into the more challenging resort of Zermatt in Switzerland.
There is a good mix of pistes for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders, parks, night skiing and some testing off-piste terrain. The easy gradient is perfect for beginners to gain confidence in an extensive high-mountain area. Intermediates have the majority of Cervinia to explore, such as the rolling piste drop down near the Swiss border, the runs down to Valtournenche and the blues and reds in the Matterhorn Ski Paradise. Advanced and expert skiers have off-piste areas, the Tête de Valpelline and the Monte Rosa areas, to test their limits.
Cervinia has three leading ski schools: Cervino Ski School, Breuil Ski-Snowboard-Freeride School, and Matterhorn-Cervinia Ski School. Their offices are conveniently located at the top of the Plan Maison cable car and in the town centre. Due to its high altitude, Cervinia has an exceptionally long season and excellent snow and is especially popular with intermediates.
New for Winter 2024-2025: Ride the new Goillet Chairlift to see the stunning surrounding views. The six-seat chairlift connects the Cervino Ski Paradise ski area and the Valtournenche ski domain. The vehicles will be automatically attached to the load-carrying and driving cable, powered by a motor. You can quickly return to the slopes in only five minutes and explore more of the resort.
