Alpbach is an Austrian ski resort associated with the Ski Jewel Alpbachtal Wildschönau area – giving you access to 109km of downhill skiing, with 71 individual pistes and 45 lifts. Alpbach main ski area is in the wooded Wiedersberger Horn mountain, which is easy to access if you ride the gondola in the Achenwirt village sitting four minutes away from Alpbach. The whole area is really well prepared, the snow coverage is very reliable – even during early and late season time.
With three nursery slopes in separate areas within the village – Alpbach is a great resort for beginners. Even if snow cover isn’t adequate at village level due to the average altitude level, you can ride the ski bus to take you over the mountain where you’ll be able to find an additional nursery slope – which, is guaranteed to have better snow coverage and is also suitable for beginners.
In the Wiedersberger Horn mountain, intermediate and advanced skiers can find plenty of long red runs that go from the top to the bottom of the mountain.
The Gmahkopf is one the most challenging runs in the Wiedersberger Horn mountain, starting from where the gondola leaves (near the highest level) and descends to the Inneralpbach.
Expert skiers can opt for two different black runs, several off-piste runs and a tree-lined powder skiing run that is advisable only when the slow is fresh.
