Beaver Creek Ski Resort

As a top-notch, family-focused resort, there are ski runs for everyone at Beaver Creek and because it’s one of the highest ski areas, natural snow is never hard to come by. As if that wasn’t enough, the resort invests in cloud-seeding technology, a scientific technique designed to make it snow more than it would naturally.

Beaver Creek provides excellent beginner slopes at Strawberry Park (which even has its own gondola lift!). There are more beginner slopes higher up on the mountain with a number of gentle runs to progress to. Intermediate skiers have over 100 easy & intermediate trials up to 2.75 miles long.

Expert skiers have plenty of serious terrains to conquer, including 7,315 meters of black diamond and double-black diamond runs including the world-famous World Cup Birds of Prey downhill course. Some of the resort’s runs are so extreme that it assigns them a special rating: “EX,” for “extreme terrain.” You’ll find these runs in the Stone Creek Chutes, Royal Elk Grade, and Talon’s Challenge.

There are 3 terrain parks for snowboarders. Over 32km of trails at McCoy Park await cross-country skiers.

What is the difference between Vail and Beaver Creek?

Vail boasts a massive amount of skiable terrain, catering to all skill levels. However, a significant portion is black diamond runs, ideal for experienced skiers. If you’re a beginner or intermediate skier, Beaver Creek is a dream come true. Over 60% of its runs are designated green or blue, offering gentle slopes and perfectly groomed surfaces thanks to their meticulous grooming operation.

Is Beaver Creek good for beginners?

Nearly half (around 46%) of Beaver Creek’s 2,000 acres are designated beginner terrain, offering a vast selection of gentle slopes for learning. Choose from wide-open, perfectly groomed runs to build confidence or venture into mellow gladed areas for a taste of powder skiing as your skills improve.  The resort features designated learning zones with gentle slopes and magic carpets (conveyor belts), making it easier for beginners to focus on technique without tiring uphill walks.
