Grindelwald Ski Resort
Grindelwald is a Swiss ski resort associated with the Jungfrau Region ski area. Offering you access to 206km of downhill skiingGrindelwald itself offers you 155km of trails to indulge in.
Being part of the Jungfrau Region, Grindelwald actually shares terrain with Wengen – the Kleine Scheidegg and Mannlichen which you can reach by riding the cog railway from Grindelwald or the 4-person gondola in Grund, which, notably, has a skiing area of its own.
If you’re a beginner, you can get the best out of your experience in the Bodmi nursery slopes, where you can also find the Grindelwald ski school with instructors to give you a hand in nurturing your skills. You can easily reach this location by catching the bus from the village centre.
As an intermediate, you’re bound to have a wonderful stay in Grindelwald and the Jungfrau region as a whole. One of the best runs in the resort is a long 8km intermediate run – a descent that runs from Oberjoch back to Grindelwald. The powder slopes in the Eiger’s glacier are equally superb if you have the time to go there.
On the other hand, as an expert, you don’t have many runs to explore. However, the ones you have are quite challenging. Including the legendary Lauberhorn World cup downhill, which is a definite must go. Otherwise, Black Rock and the Kanonenrohr are slightly more intimidating.
All in all, Grindelwald is a very good resort for skiers in general, with a special emphasis on intermediates.
