Skiing in Igls
Beginners will enjoy the Palschertkofel’s nursery slopes right next to the village center. There’s a long blue run to tackle once you’ve mastered the basics. Then once you’ve progressed to expert level, there’s the legendary red where Franz Klammer won his Gold medal in the 1976 Olympics.
But at some point between beginner and expert you’ll be an intermediate, which means you’ll need intermediate runs. Those aren’t very far, because there are a ton of resorts within 15 to 45 minutes away from Igls that offer a world of intermediate runs…all available with the ‘Glacier Lift Pass’. A free bus connects Igls to these various local resorts, which include Fulpmes, Neustift, the Stubai Glacier, Axamer Lizum, and the Seegrube area.
Axamer Lizum happens to be the main Olympic ski site, and offers a modern funicular and 9 ski lifts with a variety of terrain (mainly intermediate), although there’s certainly some advanced skill required if you emulate the championship courses.
Mutter Alm and the Stubai Glacier area have runs for all skill levels as well as some off-piste runs.

Facilities in Igls
Igls is just 10 minutes away from Innsbruck, so go skiing at Igls and get the best of both worlds: Igls, a small pretty village…and Innsbruck, a big lively city. Igls has been an Olympic venue twice, so although it’s small, it’s got a good selection of upper-echelon hotels in addition to charming village venues.

Igls itself has 12 restaurants and bars to choose from. You’ll get exceptional service at all of them. Four of them are on-mountain, and the rest are in hotels. Hotel Batzenhäsl specializes in local cuisine, while the Sporthotel provides a highly-regarded gourmet experience. The 5-star Schlosshotel offers cocktail bar with log fire, and the Gruberhof has a sophisticated-but-friendly conservatory-style bar. You can always pop into Innsbruck for a bit more variety.

Since Igles and Innsbruck are only 5km apart (barely 10 minutes driving), and there’s a tram and bus link between them, you can pick where you want to lodge. If you prefer the boisterous nightlife and plentiful restaurant options of the city, you can stay there and tram/bus/drive into the ski area. Otherwise, you can lodge & relax in the more peaceful ski area itself in any one of the budget or luxury hotels.
The professional instructors of the Ski & Snowboard School Innsbruck area ready to offer you group and private lessons to ensure your time on the slopes is as fun as it can be. Book your ski hire in Igls.
