With a tranquil traditional South Tyrolean ambience, Santa Cristina is a small little town within the Dolomites Super Ski area. It is the smallest of the three Val Gardena ski resorts, with the lively Selva on one side and the low-key Ortisei on the other, Santa Cristina has the smaller reputation of the three but it’s peaceful, quiet and not as expensive as you would think.

Beginners can take their first steps in the nursery area around the Plan da Tieja drag lift and the Monte Pana chairlift. There’s also a wonderful circuit of gentle blue and red runs around Plan de Gralba. Intermediates should consider dropping by to see for themselves; plus the snow conditions are in most cases, good. Mind you that the blue runs in Plan de Gralba are wonderful for progressing, which is wonderful news for beginners.

For more of a challenge, the long reds in Dantercrëpies will keep you busy, or the Val Gardena World Cup piste, the Saslong, should be a wonderful choice as well. It’s accessible by the public most of the time.
