The majority of runs in both mountains are intermediate to advanced level and consist in descending through the steep and thick forests.
There are also excellent mountain restaurants where you can casually relax and contemplate the astounding panorama stretching itself before your eyes as you enjoy a scrumptious and steamy meal.
Beginners can start off by using the Planai gondola that goes up the mountain to the nursery area. Another alternative (after several ski classes) is to try out the lower slopes in Hochwurzen which can be reached by riding the chairlift.
Intermediates/Advanced skiers have almost the entire area to themselves, apart from the two World Cup runs and all year round ski area located in the Dachstein glacier.

Facilities in Schladming
Schladming is like an ancient painting of an old, mysterious town sitting in a vast and glorious mountain. Its beauty is irrefutable, be it during the day or night. Transformed into a town in 1322 and having its town square pedestrianized 672 years later, Schladming is a pleasant place where hospitality, along with the historical towns and surrounding nature, transform this small mountain town into an interesting option to visit.
Ever since it was pedestrianised, Schladming has become a really nice place to loosen up as you stroll down the town square and visit a café to drink your warm coffee together with a piece of gateau. In town, you can find the reputable family restaurant Tischlerei offering true family hospitality and great quality cooking – while up the mountain you can get in the attractive rustic huts to where tasty ribs are served.
In Schladming a huge range of accommodation to choose from and comfortably settle in after an intense ski session. Ranging from fancy hotels, farms and even camping spots.
Schladming isn’t a popular ski resort with beginner skiers, so it’s not surprising that there’s not a huge amount of choice throughout the resort, however, there are still a few reputable ski schools to choose from. Book your ski hire in Schladming.
