Wengen – A Car Free Resort
There is no road access to the resort of Wengen, so your transfer will take you to the resort of Lauterbrunnen and from here, you catch a train the rest of the way, (payable locally). The train departs Lauterbrunnen every 30 minutes, at 7 and 37 minutes past the hour until 20.30 and then runs hourly until 23.30. Late night services depart at 00.40 and 01.20 in the week and at the weekend, there is an additional train at 02.40. The journey takes around 15 minutes. There is a free hotel phone at Lauterbrunnen station, which you can use to call your hotel and let them know you’re on your way, so they can come and collect you from the railway station when you arrive. There is also a phone at Wengen station if you don’t have time to call before your train leaves.
For your return transfer, your driver will meet you at Lauterbrunnen station, so you will need to ensure that you catch a train which allows you to get to Lauterbrunnen in time for your pick up.
The whole process is easy and is designed to take away any of the stress in trying to find a taxi to Wengen from the airport.

Wengen is an Austrian ski resort associated with the Jungfrau Region – an area offering you access to over 300km of downhill skiing, 131 individual pistes and 66 lifts. Wengen in itself has 155km of ski runs. However, with the appropriate ski pass – you can easily travel to other resorts nearby such as Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen and Murren. Snow cover in Wengen is usually quite reliable.
Wengen shares its main ski area with Grindelwald. Kleine Scheidegg can be reached through the cog railway starting from Wengen and going all the way to Wengenralp – taking approximately 30 minutes. The second main ski area in Wengen is Männlichen – which you’re able to reach if you catch the cable-car in Kleine Scheidegg.
The nursery slopes in Wengen are suitable for beginners – you have a ski-school nearby whose instructors are very friendly and professional in teaching you the ropes of skiing. There’s also another beginner-friendly area up the slopes in Wengeneralp. If you are an intermediate skier, you’re in for an amazing experience. A popular suggestion would be an 8km run in Grindelwald starting from the high region in Oberjoch.
Experts have the chance to enjoy a descent at Lauberhorn that goes back to Wengen. It can be reached by riding the chairlift in Scheidegg, above which there is a tough run aptly name the “Oh God”!.
