Alpe d’Huez is part of the Grand Domaine Ski area with over 389km of pistes. It is one of five different resorts in the ski area. The area is serviced by 150 different ski lifts which can handle up to 95,000 skiers per hour and 304 different pistes. As the resort is based at 1500m it is usually possible to ski back to the resort when snowfall is good.
Alpe d’Huez has some of the longest individual skiing routes in the world including a 16km descent. These are perfect for the most experienced skiers but beginners will be delighted to know that the slopes closest to the resort are gentle and perfect for first timers to use.
Alpe d’Huez is also renowned for its famous snowboarding schools and centres. The resort has previously hosted the World Snowboard Cup and there are many areas designated exclusively for snowboarding.
