Skiing in Ordino
As the newest ski area in Andorra, Ordino’s lifts won’t leave you waiting. Its slopes are also mostly north-facing, which means it has one of the best snow records in the Pyrenees.
It’s an excellent place for beginners: there are 6 easy runs, including La Basera, one of the longest in the Andorra. The 7 blue runs are mostly long and gentle and provide a nice progression from the greens. There are 9 long, challenging red runs for intermediates (a notable red run is La Balma, which starts at the top of the mountain and goes all the way back to the base station). There are only 2 black runs but they’re known to be extremely difficult.
Heliskiing is available through several heliskiing companies, although you’ll need to make sure you can confidently navigate black runs beforehand.
Snowshoeing is also on offer, and Ordino is the right place to try it if you’ve never tried it before. There are 5 routes marked for different experience levels along with experienced guides to go with you.

Facilities in Ordino
While Ordino is one of Andorra’s smaller & quieter resorts, it’s the newest. Since it’s part of the Vallnord ski region, 1 ski pass gets you access to Arcalis, Arinsal, and Pal. With a variety of ski runs, and a variety of things to do off the slopes (dog-sledding, snowmobiling, air boarding, and even bungee-jumping), Ordino can be great fun for the whole family.

On-mountain dining is great in Ordino, but for a more lively food & bar scene off the slopes, you’ll want to head to Arinsal. The Bar les Portelles is a sandwich shop known for its large, sunny terraces and some of the best scenery in Andorra (and great sandwiches). The Hortell and Planells offer fast food and snacks, while Terrassa La Coma offers food of the highest level (chargrilled meats) at the highest level (2,000 meters).

Ordino offers a range of 1-star to 4-star hotels, apartment blocks, and 1 aparthotel to accommodate you no matter your budget. Hotel Micolau deserves a special mention: it’s become something of an institution in the area, it sits on the main road and only accommodates 24 people. However, it serves homemade food, its bar is always open & friendly and if you come with enough people, you can commandeer the whole hotel!
The Ordino-Arcalis ski school has 40 multilingual instructors ready to teach you skiing techniques in group lessons or private lessons. The Pekepark holds the children’s ski park and snow kindergarten and offers professional ski instruction for the little ones. Book your ski hire in Ordino.
