Geneva Airport is the most popular airport for Méribel thanks to its year-round international flight network and straightforward motorway access to the Tarentaise Valley. The route travels south via Albertville and Moûtiers before climbing the Méribel valley to resort.
Méribel is road-accessible throughout the valley, so shared and private transfers can take you directly to your accommodation in Méribel Centre, Mottaret, Les Allues, Village or Les Hauts, where road access allows.
- Distance from Geneva Airport: approx. 135–183 km, depending on route
- Typical transfer time: around 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes
- Route: Geneva → Albertville → Moûtiers → Méribel valley
- Best for: families, groups, couples and anyone skiing the Three Valleys
How long does a Geneva to Méribel transfer take?
A typical Geneva to Méribel transfer takes around 2 hours 15 minutes under normal winter conditions. The journey runs from Geneva Airport into France, through the Savoie via Albertville and Moûtiers, before the final climb up the valley road into Méribel.
Travel times can be longer on busy Saturdays, during heavy snowfall or at peak holiday periods, and the final stretch between Moûtiers and Méribel is often the slowest part of the journey on changeover days. Allow extra time if you are catching a return flight on a Saturday afternoon.

It’s a convenient option for families, groups, travellers with children and anyone with early or late flights. Méribel Transfers from Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry and Grenoble
Geneva is the main airport for Méribel, but Ski-Lifts also arranges transfers from other French and Swiss airport hubs, including:
- Geneva Airport transfers
- Lyon Airport transfers
- Grenoble Airport transfers
- Chambéry Airport transfers
We can also arrange transfers from Moûtiers train station, around a 30-minute journey from Méribel in normal conditions and the main rail arrival point for the Three Valleys.
Alternatives to Méribel Transfers
While a pre-booked transfer is usually the simplest way to reach Méribel, there are a few other travel options worth considering depending on your budget, travel style and arrival plans.
- Train and public transport: Méribel does not have its own railway station. Journeys by train from Geneva usually involve changing at Chambéry for Moûtiers, then taking a local bus or taxi for the final 18 km up to resort. With connections, the total journey can take 4 to 6 hours and is less practical with ski luggage.
- Car hire: Renting a car from Geneva Airport gives flexibility, but the drive takes around 3 hours in good conditions and the climb from Moûtiers can be slow in snow. Winter tyre and snow chain requirements must be checked in advance, and parking in resort can be limited and chargeable.
- Scheduled bus and shuttle services: Seasonal coaches run between Geneva and Méribel, mainly at weekends. They can be cheaper, but operate to fixed timetables and finish at central stops rather than your accommodation.
For most visitors, especially families and groups travelling with ski equipment, a pre-booked transfer remains the easiest balance of convenience, comfort and reliability, with no winter driving and no connections to make.
Return transfer: Méribel to Geneva Airport Transfer
If you need to return to Geneva Airport, Ski-Lifts arranges your Méribel to Geneva transfer, whether you’re booked on a shared or private service, with the same care as your arrival journey. You receive a text message confirming your pick-up time the afternoon before departure, so you know exactly when to be ready at your accommodation for the journey back to Geneva Airport.
