Airport Transfers in the Summer
The Alps were once thought of as just a destination for ski holidays. In the last few years more and more people have travelled to the mountains to enjoy their beauty and the huge range of activities that can be enjoyed there in the summer months as well.
Many of the established ski resorts are becoming as famous for their summer sports, as they are for the traditional winter activities. It is not only the high adrenaline pastimes that are drawing people in, but also the stunning scenery, relaxed atmosphere and clean mountain air.
Resorts such as Chamonix are known for the variety of walking and climbing on offer. Others such as Morzine, Les Gets and Chatel for the endless mountain biking trails. Whilst high altitude resorts such asTignes and Les Deux Alpes still offer skiing and snowboarding in the summer on their glaciers. Courmayeur is just one of the resorts where you can experience world class white water rafting and kayaking.
It is not just adrenaline sports on offer, many resorts also have fantastic golf courses within them or nearby. Some resorts such as St Gervais have long attracted people for the healing properties of their spa’s. The abundance of lakes and rivers makes the Alps a popular destination for fishing. Many resorts are also now offering relaxation weeks with activities such as yoga, meditation and art retreats being just a few examples.
The Alps also play host to some of the most spectacular annual events. For the Tour De France the Alps regularly plays host to some of the most exciting stages, with resorts such as Alpe D’Huez being world famous for its climb.
The list of resorts and activities could go on and on – you have to see it to believe it!
