European Ski Season Dates – 2015/2016
**Take a look at the ski season dates for 2017/18**
Beanies and boots at the ready, the ski resorts are starting to open! So following on from our post with all the dates on the French Ski resorts, we thought we’d better get the dates for the rest of Europe, so here are all the critical dates you need for ski resorts in Austria, Italy, Andorra, Germany and Switzerland.
Solden – The glacier ski area is already in operation – dependant on snow conditions but the main area will commence on the 14th of November and operates until the 17th of April with just the glacier continuing to be open until the 8th of May 2016.
St Anton –Opening begins on the 4th of December to 24th of April 2016
Ischgl – Snow dependent but opening from 26th of November until the 1st of May.
Kitzbuhel – Boasting a long season, given that it is not a glacier resort they are hoping to open on the 24th of October until the 5th of May 2016.
Mayrhofen – 28th of November till the 19th of April with the Zillertaler area open from 5th of December until the 14thof April 2016.
Obergurgl – Projecting openings on the 11th of December but the main season starts on the 20th of December and runs until the 24thApril depending on snow conditions.
Saas Fee –Being a glacier resort Sass Fee is already opening to limited runs with more areas due to open soon, they will remain open until the 17th of April.
Verbier –Official opening is said to be the 29th-30th of November, but certain lifts will be opening earlier in November snow dependant. Due to close on the 24th of April but lower area may close sooner.
Zermatt – The Matterhorn, Gornergrat and Rothorn glacial areas are open all year round, with additional lower areas due to open on the 28th of November until the 17th of April.
The Grandvalira ski area, encompasses the ski resorts of Soldeu, El Tarter, Encamp, Canillo and Pas de la Casaall of which are due to open on the 28th of November (snow permitting) until the 10th of April.
Cervinia Breuil- Cervinia opening from 17th-18th, 24th-25th October and from 31st October 2015 to 1st May 2016. Valtournenche from the 28th November 2015 to the 10th April 2016.
Cortina d’Ampezzo – 11th of November till the 4th of March 2016.
Livigno – 28th of November till the 8th of May 2016.
Val Gardena – 4th December till 3rd April 2016.
Aosta – Courmayeur at the top of the Aosta Valley plans to be open from the 28th of November until the 10th of April. Pila 5th December till the 10th of April, and Champoluc 27th of November till the 10th of April 2016.
