The quickest routes from Geneva are usually to Les Gets and Morzine, while Avoriaz takes a little longer because of the final climb and car-free resort arrival process. Private transfers
Private transfers are usually the most direct and flexible option. They are popular with families, groups and travellers with ski equipment because the vehicle is booked for your party only.

Portes du Soleil in winter and summer
The Portes du Soleil is best known as a winter ski area, with linked pistes across France and Switzerland, beginner zones, snowparks, family areas and cross-border routes. Resorts such as Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz are popular for ski holidays from the UK because they combine relatively short Geneva transfer times with strong resort infrastructure.
In winter, your resort choice affects both the skiing and the arrival experience. Les Gets and Morzine are usually the simplest for road access and shorter transfers, while Avoriaz offers higher-altitude skiing but has a car-free arrival process. Châtel, Morgins and Champéry suit travellers who want a traditional village feel or access to different areas of the Portes du Soleil network.
The region is also active outside the ski season. Morzine and Les Gets are especially popular for summer mountain biking, while Avoriaz, Châtel and the Swiss resorts offer hiking, trail running, lakes, lift-accessed routes and family outdoor activities. Private transfers remain useful in summer for groups travelling with bikes, luggage or equipment, especially where public transport connections are limited.
